Welcome

Welcome to HistologyOLM, the on-line laboratory manual for mammalian histology.

HistologyOLM is designed to serve as a guide to the microscopic examination of mammalian tissues. While the manual might serve as a useful reference tool, HistologyOLM is not meant to replace the microscope, but rather to be used along-side the microscope as a guide that directs students through a systematic examination of tissue structure.

This manual is built for use in an undergraduate mammalian histology course. As such, it lacks the focused clinical connections that might be required by medical, veterinary, and dental school courses.

This version of the manual, version 4.0, is under construction. Content, taken directly from version 3.0, will be edited and expanded and slowly added throughout the early part of 2012.

The manual behaves properly in Mozilla Firefox © 6.0 or later and in Microsoft Internet Explorer © 8.0 or later. It has not been tested in other browsers. If you use Firefox or Internet Explorer, it is recommended that you update these browsers to their latest versions.

Proceed to the Table of Contents or see the menu bar above for links to the various chapters.

I hope you find the manual useful. Feedback is always welcome - email me at sgallik@umw.edu.
